Steve Izzi handles commercial litigation of all kinds, focusing on real estate, tax appeals, finance restructuring, and general contract and corporate matters. He often represents developers, municipalities, lenders and title insurers in all kinds of real estate undertakings and disputes, from buy-sell agreements to zoning and subdivision issues to indemnification of property owners. He likes to analyze the critical components of a business transaction right from the start… offering proactive legal strategy designed to avoid trouble in the future.
While he is an aggressive advocate for his clients, Steve also understands the importance of integrating the requirements of the municipalities to show how a proposed development will fit into its plans for the future. Steve enjoys relationships of mutual respect with the influence-leaders and decisions-makers on the state and local level. In fact, he is often called upon to consult on real estate issues on the municipal agenda.
Prior to joining Moses Afonso Ryan LTD, Steve was most recently a partner at the international law firm of Holland & Knight. During his five years with Holland & Knight, Steve handled numerous appeals in the state and federal court systems . He counseled lenders on loan workouts and finance restructuring and holds an appointment as a United States Bankruptcy Trustee for the First District. He successfully defended Brownfields and other environmentally-challenged properties.
Steve earned his college degree in political science with honors from Providence College and his law degree from the Franklin Pierce Law Center. He is admitted to practice in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
